I was cleared to land runway 03, which intersects with runway 17. No restrictions to landing clearance noted. Tower cleared an airline jet for takeoff on 17. Conflict noted when I was about 50 ft AGL and close to intersection. Tower advised to hold short of 17; I advised unable. Tower directed immediate left turn, and I initiated 60 degree left bank, paralleling runway 17. Estimated miss distance: 300 ft. Recommendation: if 'hold short' of intersecting runway is needed, should advise.
