Narrative:
We were cleared for takeoff from ont runway 26R, with instructions to turn left after takeoff, direct pdz, climb to 4000. We commenced the turn immediately after gear retraction, with flaps still extended 5 degree. Passing 2000 MSL and 180 degree heading, our TCASII gave a TA. The TA was at our 10-11 O'clock and 2-3 mi plus 200 ft. We visually acquired the target, a high wing, single engine, and determined we could not safely pass below him. We expedited our climb as the target turned to the right, passing directly underneath us. The TCASII showed minus 500 ft as we passed over him. Departure issued 'traffic 12 O'clock, less than a mi' as we were over the top of the traffic. Less than a mi indeed!

Title: LGT ON TURN OUT AFTER TKOF HAS TCASII TA. VISUALLY ACQUIRES TARGET, TAKES EVASIVE ACTION.
Narrative: WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF FROM ONT RWY 26R, WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO TURN L AFTER TKOF, DIRECT PDZ, CLB TO 4000. WE COMMENCED THE TURN IMMEDIATELY AFTER GEAR RETRACTION, WITH FLAPS STILL EXTENDED 5 DEG. PASSING 2000 MSL AND 180 DEG HDG, OUR TCASII GAVE A TA. THE TA WAS AT OUR 10-11 O'CLOCK AND 2-3 MI PLUS 200 FT. WE VISUALLY ACQUIRED THE TARGET, A HIGH WING, SINGLE ENG, AND DETERMINED WE COULD NOT SAFELY PASS BELOW HIM. WE EXPEDITED OUR CLB AS THE TARGET TURNED TO THE R, PASSING DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH US. THE TCASII SHOWED MINUS 500 FT AS WE PASSED OVER HIM. DEP ISSUED 'TFC 12 O'CLOCK, LESS THAN A MI' AS WE WERE OVER THE TOP OF THE TFC. LESS THAN A MI INDEED!
