Narrative:
Clearance delivery gave maspeth climb which requires a climbing turn to 175 degrees 'till leaving 3000 then a right turn to a 340 degree heading. I briefed the same. Climbing out of 1000 ft after turning to 175 degrees, we got a 'speed limit warning' annunciation on pilot flight display. Copilot called for a left turn to 340 degrees as I selected autothrottles to off then on. ATC advised us to turn back to right to 090 degrees and descend to 4000. We confirmed we had widebody transport traffic at 11 O'clock 5000 ft visually. Autoplt was turned on at 1000 ft. First officer had flown same trip several times and had always been given a left turn after 170 degree heading. I was also used to being given a heading before the second turn required at 3000 ft. Therefore, was too relaxed about procedure. Speed limit problem occurred at exact time of first officer call for a left turn. I always review departure procedures on taxi out but we were #1 to takeoff almost immediately after leaving gate.

Title: HDG TRACK DEV CAUSES A POTENTIAL CONFLICT WITH WDB. AMENDED CLRNC FOR ALT CHANGE GIVEN TO ALLEVIATE PROBLEM.
Narrative: CLRNC DELIVERY GAVE MASPETH CLB WHICH REQUIRES A CLBING TURN TO 175 DEGS 'TILL LEAVING 3000 THEN A R TURN TO A 340 DEG HDG. I BRIEFED THE SAME. CLBING OUT OF 1000 FT AFTER TURNING TO 175 DEGS, WE GOT A 'SPD LIMIT WARNING' ANNUNCIATION ON PLT FLT DISPLAY. COPLT CALLED FOR A L TURN TO 340 DEGS AS I SELECTED AUTOTHROTTLES TO OFF THEN ON. ATC ADVISED US TO TURN BACK TO R TO 090 DEGS AND DSND TO 4000. WE CONFIRMED WE HAD WDB TFC AT 11 O'CLOCK 5000 FT VISUALLY. AUTOPLT WAS TURNED ON AT 1000 FT. FO HAD FLOWN SAME TRIP SEVERAL TIMES AND HAD ALWAYS BEEN GIVEN A L TURN AFTER 170 DEG HDG. I WAS ALSO USED TO BEING GIVEN A HDG BEFORE THE SECOND TURN REQUIRED AT 3000 FT. THEREFORE, WAS TOO RELAXED ABOUT PROC. SPD LIMIT PROBLEM OCCURRED AT EXACT TIME OF FO CALL FOR A L TURN. I ALWAYS REVIEW DEP PROCS ON TAXI OUT BUT WE WERE #1 TO TKOF ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER LEAVING GATE.
