Narrative:
Mode C transponder had acted up on apr/xx/92. The problem was checked and no apparent cause was found. On may/xx/92 and may/xx/92 on trip to chesapeake, va, from base I28, the mode C portion of transponder was erratic and mode C squawk was ceased. The return trip included deviations for WX through greensboro, nc, and bristol, tn (tri). The flight was conducted under an IFR flight plan. No problems arose and conditions were predominantly VFR. On may/xx/92, the transponder mode C portion was checked by maintenance at OI3. The mode C connection was loose and the problem corrected. Mode C checked out by hts approach and found operative. A FAA notice of non-operation of mode C for the apr/xx/92 flight was received by the aircraft owner on may/xx/92 from ZTL. The problem is corrected now and the mode C is operational and within tolerance.
