Narrative:
Inbound to charlotte on the shine arrival the crew received initial clearance to 11000. After leveling off at 11000 the crew received what they believed was another descent clearance to 9000, which is normal for that portion of the arrival. Shortly after beginning the descent, ZTL advised traffic at 2 O'clock maintenance 11000. No evasive action was needed, and the flight proceeded normally. Supplemental information from acn 211340: we were descending to 9000 ft when at 10300 atl called to advise of traffic ahead and to maintain 11000 ft. I said that we were cleared to 9000 ft and atl said to maintain 11000 ft. We climbed to 11000 ft and soon after atl called to say they were pulling the tapes and for us to call ZTL.

Title: FLC OF LTT AIR CARRIER ACFT MISUNDERSTOOD THAT THEY WERE CLRED TO A LOWER ALT AND OVERSHOT THEIR CLRNC ALT RESULTING IN LTSS WITH OTHER TFC.
Narrative: INBOUND TO CHARLOTTE ON THE SHINE ARR THE CREW RECEIVED INITIAL CLRNC TO 11000. AFTER LEVELING OFF AT 11000 THE CREW RECEIVED WHAT THEY BELIEVED WAS ANOTHER DSCNT CLRNC TO 9000, WHICH IS NORMAL FOR THAT PORTION OF THE ARR. SHORTLY AFTER BEGINNING THE DSCNT, ZTL ADVISED TFC AT 2 O'CLOCK MAINT 11000. NO EVASIVE ACTION WAS NEEDED, AND THE FLT PROCEEDED NORMALLY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 211340: WE WERE DSNDING TO 9000 FT WHEN AT 10300 ATL CALLED TO ADVISE OF TFC AHEAD AND TO MAINTAIN 11000 FT. I SAID THAT WE WERE CLRED TO 9000 FT AND ATL SAID TO MAINTAIN 11000 FT. WE CLBED TO 11000 FT AND SOON AFTER ATL CALLED TO SAY THEY WERE PULLING THE TAPES AND FOR US TO CALL ZTL.
