Narrative:

Departed reno stead airport at midfield runway 08. Called unicom announced intentions prior to takeoff. No response. Typical VFR day with wind favoring runway 08 at 10 KTS. Unknown to me, the runway was closed and 'X-ed' off on both ends. Did not receive anything in the mail from the airport authority. I am based at stead with my small aircraft aircraft. Did not and normally do not call for FSS briefing on beautiful days like this. Discovered the 'X' on the runway numbers when I returned just before dark.

Narrative: DEPARTED RENO STEAD ARPT AT MIDFIELD RWY 08. CALLED UNICOM ANNOUNCED INTENTIONS PRIOR TO TKOF. NO RESPONSE. TYPICAL VFR DAY WITH WIND FAVORING RWY 08 AT 10 KTS.
