Narrative:
We were on a visual approach from an IFR flight slc-fca about 7 mi south of kfca passing 5900 ft. We had made numerous calls on fca CTAF frequency 123.0 announcing our position and landing intentions on runway 2 at kfca. We heard no other aircraft on the CTAF. I was raising my scan from our TCASII display on the radar, which showed no traffic in the area, when I spotted a silver sailplane at our altitude heading about 30-45 degrees left of our heading and at our 12:30 position. A sharp left turn was started and we missed the sailplane by about 300 ft. On short final the sailplane came on the CTAF and advised they usually monitored 122.8 in that area. That frequency was not in any of our publications. With an increasing number of large scheduled passenger flts into uncontrolled airports, we need more than ever to have a known communication link with other aircraft in the vicinity of the airport.

Title: SAILPLANE AND MLG HAVE NMAC S OF GLACIER PARK INTL ARPT (FCA).
Narrative: WE WERE ON A VISUAL APCH FROM AN IFR FLT SLC-FCA ABOUT 7 MI S OF KFCA PASSING 5900 FT. WE HAD MADE NUMEROUS CALLS ON FCA CTAF FREQ 123.0 ANNOUNCING OUR POS AND LNDG INTENTIONS ON RWY 2 AT KFCA. WE HEARD NO OTHER ACFT ON THE CTAF. I WAS RAISING MY SCAN FROM OUR TCASII DISPLAY ON THE RADAR, WHICH SHOWED NO TFC IN THE AREA, WHEN I SPOTTED A SILVER SAILPLANE AT OUR ALT HDG ABOUT 30-45 DEGS L OF OUR HDG AND AT OUR 12:30 POS. A SHARP L TURN WAS STARTED AND WE MISSED THE SAILPLANE BY ABOUT 300 FT. ON SHORT FINAL THE SAILPLANE CAME ON THE CTAF AND ADVISED THEY USUALLY MONITORED 122.8 IN THAT AREA. THAT FREQ WAS NOT IN ANY OF OUR PUBLICATIONS. WITH AN INCREASING NUMBER OF LARGE SCHEDULED PAX FLTS INTO UNCTLED ARPTS, WE NEED MORE THAN EVER TO HAVE A KNOWN COM LINK WITH OTHER ACFT IN THE VICINITY OF THE ARPT.
