Narrative:
In our climb to FL330, at FL230, with autoplt at VNAV, LNAV on, #2 engine had a compressor stall. We heard a loud bang, observed a flash of light on the right side of the aircraft, and the aircraft initially yawed to the right. #2 engine egt went to 735 degrees. We shut the engine down per the severe damage fire checklist. The aft cabin attendant reported fire coming from the right engine, so we fired the fire bottle. We contacted ATC, requested a vector to mia, and requested the crash equipment to standby. During descent, we dumped about 16000 pounds of fuel to land at 319000 pounds. We accomplished all pertinent checklists and had a normal landing. We also did the short cabin prep during descent. We were well prepared for this incident from the training we had received.

Title: A TWIN ENG WDB ACR LOST AN ENG AT NIGHT. THEY DUMPED FUEL AND RETURNED AND LANDED.
Narrative: IN OUR CLB TO FL330, AT FL230, WITH AUTOPLT AT VNAV, LNAV ON, #2 ENG HAD A COMPRESSOR STALL.
