Narrative:
Pdl clearance differed from flight plan. We caught this and even corrected flight plan left in enl. Misread pre departure clearance. I did have in my mind to check with departure and verify. Very nice day and no traffic. After takeoff, told to fly runway heading. At 5 min after takeoff, told to resume gateway 1 departure. No heading or fix mentioned -- I turned about 20 degree left to intercept the 108 degree radial to enl. Climbing through about 6000 ft departure corrected us and told to intercept the 126 degree to bna. There was no traffic conflict and we proceeded on course to bna. This was my mistake in misreading pre departure clearance. I even mentioned we got gateway 1 enl and then direct bna. It would have helped if the controller had mentioned the departure and bna. I also would like to see the pre departure clearance's read with the same format as the clrncs on the radio or highlight the changes with boldface. Wording from departure was 'resume the SID.' it would have been helpful if he said maintain heading or given us a vector to intercept.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: AN MLG CREW WAS GIVEN A CHANGE OF ROUTING IN THEIR PREDEP CLRNC. THEY DID NOT FLY THE CHANGED ROUTING CORRECTLY.
Narrative: PDL CLRNC DIFFERED FROM FLT PLAN. WE CAUGHT THIS AND EVEN CORRECTED FLT PLAN LEFT IN ENL. MISREAD PDC. I DID HAVE IN MY MIND TO CHK WITH DEP AND VERIFY. VERY NICE DAY AND NO TFC. AFTER TKOF, TOLD TO FLY RWY HDG. AT 5 MIN AFTER TKOF, TOLD TO RESUME GATEWAY 1 DEP. NO HDG OR FIX MENTIONED -- I TURNED ABOUT 20 DEG L TO INTERCEPT THE 108 DEG RADIAL TO ENL. CLBING THROUGH ABOUT 6000 FT DEP CORRECTED US AND TOLD TO INTERCEPT THE 126 DEG TO BNA. THERE WAS NO TFC CONFLICT AND WE PROCEEDED ON COURSE TO BNA. THIS WAS MY MISTAKE IN MISREADING PDC. I EVEN MENTIONED WE GOT GATEWAY 1 ENL AND THEN DIRECT BNA. IT WOULD HAVE HELPED IF THE CTLR HAD MENTIONED THE DEP AND BNA. I ALSO WOULD LIKE TO SEE THE PDC'S READ WITH THE SAME FORMAT AS THE CLRNCS ON THE RADIO OR HIGHLIGHT THE CHANGES WITH BOLDFACE. WORDING FROM DEP WAS 'RESUME THE SID.' IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HELPFUL IF HE SAID MAINTAIN HDG OR GIVEN US A VECTOR TO INTERCEPT.
