Narrative:
I was working air carrier X for ILS runway 18R had accepted a pointout on small aircraft Y 10 west of field eastbound for right downwind ILS runway 27 at 3000 ft. I was late getting air carrier X descended and when switching him to the tower the ARTS IIIA conflict alert sounded, I issued traffic but am sure air carrier X had already switched. Small aircraft Y was almost over the OM eastbound and I had assumed he would have been much further south but had failed to monitor his position as required. I had allowed my expectation to affect my awareness and should have specified a restriction during the pointout if I wanted small aircraft Y further south.
