Narrative:

Air carrier persists at encouraging pilots to fly, in violation of FARS, while said pilots are ill, or for some reason do not feel they can act adequately as a pilot. I, after boasting over 1 yr of perfect attendance (approximately 1.5 yrs), experienced 4 short sick periods of 2-4 days each. I was invited to the manager's office to be 'counseled.' consequently, I fear to call in as ill, if I am ill. I've spoken to many pilots/flight attendants and mechanics who have worked in a reduced state of physical and/or mental health. This is serious! I, as an FAA designated check airman, was advised by the FAA to submit this report to you and to encourage others to do the same. I'll be on cnn the day a plane crashes (god forbid) with a copy of my report! Please, for safety's sake -- do something!

Narrative: ACR PERSISTS AT ENCOURAGING PLTS TO FLY, IN VIOLATION OF FARS, WHILE SAID PLTS ARE ILL, OR FOR SOME REASON DO NOT FEEL THEY CAN ACT ADEQUATELY AS A PLT. I, AFTER BOASTING OVER 1 YR OF PERFECT ATTENDANCE (APPROX 1.5 YRS), EXPERIENCED 4 SHORT SICK PERIODS OF 2-4 DAYS EACH. I WAS INVITED TO THE MGR'S OFFICE TO BE 'COUNSELED.' CONSEQUENTLY, I FEAR TO CALL IN AS ILL, IF I AM ILL. I'VE SPOKEN TO MANY PLTS/FLT ATTENDANTS AND MECHS WHO HAVE WORKED IN A REDUCED STATE OF PHYSICAL AND/OR MENTAL HEALTH. THIS IS SERIOUS!
