Narrative:
Initiated flight over urban area with light winds due to incomplete WX briefing at race. Encountered extreme thermal activity. WX was from unofficial source. Landed as soon as possible. Poor pilot planning and pressure from organizers and other pilots contributed to decision to fly. In the future, personal pilot preparation will be made irrespective of other pilots or race objections.

Narrative: INITIATED FLT OVER URBAN AREA WITH LIGHT WINDS DUE TO INCOMPLETE WX BRIEFING AT RACE. ENCOUNTERED EXTREME THERMAL ACTIVITY. WX WAS FROM UNOFFICIAL SOURCE. LANDED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. POOR PLT PLANNING AND PRESSURE FROM ORGANIZERS AND OTHER PLTS CONTRIBUTED TO DECISION TO FLY. IN THE FUTURE, PERSONAL PLT PREPARATION WILL BE MADE IRRESPECTIVE OF OTHER PLTS OR RACE OBJECTIONS.
