Narrative:
I was #2 of a 2 ship flight of fgts departing msn on a local training sortie. We were cleared for takeoff by the tower and directed to change to departure frequency. I began my takeoff roll 10 seconds after my leader. All indications, both inside and outside the cockpit, were normal for takeoff. As I saw my leader rotate, I noticed an mdt turboprop entering runway 36 at just past midfield. The mdt turned up 36 as if to back-taxi for a runway 18 departure. I determined that I could not safely abort my takeoff behind the airliner. I rotated and lifted off slightly early, beginning a climbing right turn immediately in order to avoid hitting or overflying the airliner. Estimated miss distance between my aircraft and the mdt was approximately 30-40 ft. The rest of the takeoff and departure went normally. Lead switched back to tower in order to ensure that we had, indeed, been cleared for takeoff. The tower controller confirmed that we had been. We returned to base for uneventful individual lndgs.

Title: MIL FLT OF 2 ON TKOF. SECOND ACFT MAKES ABRUPT LIFTOFF TO AVOID COLLISION WITH ACFT TAXIING.
Narrative: I WAS #2 OF A 2 SHIP FLT OF FGTS DEPARTING MSN ON A LCL TRAINING SORTIE. WE WERE CLRED FOR TKOF BY THE TWR AND DIRECTED TO CHANGE TO DEP FREQ. I BEGAN MY TKOF ROLL 10 SECONDS AFTER MY LEADER. ALL INDICATIONS, BOTH INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE COCKPIT, WERE NORMAL FOR TKOF. AS I SAW MY LEADER ROTATE, I NOTICED AN MDT TURBOPROP ENTERING RWY 36 AT JUST PAST MIDFIELD. THE MDT TURNED UP 36 AS IF TO BACK-TAXI FOR A RWY 18 DEP. I DETERMINED THAT I COULD NOT SAFELY ABORT MY TKOF BEHIND THE AIRLINER. I ROTATED AND LIFTED OFF SLIGHTLY EARLY, BEGINNING A CLBING R TURN IMMEDIATELY IN ORDER TO AVOID HITTING OR OVERFLYING THE AIRLINER. ESTIMATED MISS DISTANCE BTWN MY ACFT AND THE MDT WAS APPROX 30-40 FT. THE REST OF THE TKOF AND DEP WENT NORMALLY. LEAD SWITCHED BACK TO TWR IN ORDER TO ENSURE THAT WE HAD, INDEED, BEEN CLRED FOR TKOF. THE TWR CTLR CONFIRMED THAT WE HAD BEEN. WE RETURNED TO BASE FOR UNEVENTFUL INDIVIDUAL LNDGS.
