Narrative:

On landing rollout, runway 6 bdl (windsor locks, ct) tower asked us if we could turn right at taxiway south. Before I could say no, my first officer said we could. I was unable to make south and continued through intersection of runway 6 and 33. Without seeing if we would make the turn, tower cleared aircraft on 33 to takeoff. Upon seeing us going through intersection, tower told other aircraft to abort. Taxiway south is immediately before runway 33. Had we been told airborne to hold short on plan a south turnoff this situation could have been avoided. And also my first officer (PNF) should have asked me first. Also, after crossing 33, cockpit was busy with me and first officer discussing situation and tower's frantic calls, we subsequently turned onto a closed taxiway (not marked as such) I also was unaware of aircraft departing 33 when we crossed.
