Narrative:

In cruise flight aircraft entered an area of icing conditions. Per aircraft procedure, engine anti-ice was selected. On descent, aircraft left icing conditions. On ground during shut down I took my blue blocker sunglasses off and noticed the 2 blue engine anti-ice status lights on the center panel were on indicating engine anti-ice was still on. The sunglasses blocked the blue light from the engine anti-ice light bulb making it appear the system was off. This is not the only system in the aircraft that has blue lights associated with them. Several of the EFIS displays have blue marking for navigation and ILS landing system indications, ie, OM. While this occurrence posed little safety hazard the potential is there for further safety problems. Several pilot sunglasses use the blue light blocking technology and many pilots may use these glasses unwittingly.

Title: A COMMUTER PLT ASSERTS THAT HIS 'BLUE-BLOCKER' SUNGLASSES, WHATEVER THEY ARE, BLOCKED THE BLUE INDICATING LIGHTS FOR ENG ANTI-ICE ANNUNCIATION.

Narrative: IN CRUISE FLT ACFT ENTERED AN AREA OF ICING CONDITIONS. PER ACFT PROC, ENG ANTI-ICE WAS SELECTED. ON DSCNT, ACFT LEFT ICING CONDITIONS. ON GND DURING SHUT DOWN I TOOK MY BLUE BLOCKER SUNGLASSES OFF AND NOTICED THE 2 BLUE ENG ANTI-ICE STATUS LIGHTS ON THE CTR PANEL WERE ON INDICATING ENG ANTI-ICE WAS STILL ON. THE SUNGLASSES BLOCKED THE BLUE LIGHT FROM THE ENG ANTI-ICE LIGHT BULB MAKING IT APPEAR THE SYS WAS OFF. THIS IS NOT THE ONLY SYS IN THE ACFT THAT HAS BLUE LIGHTS ASSOCIATED WITH THEM. SEVERAL OF THE EFIS DISPLAYS HAVE BLUE MARKING FOR NAV AND ILS LNDG SYS INDICATIONS, IE, OM. WHILE THIS OCCURRENCE POSED LITTLE SAFETY HAZARD THE POTENTIAL IS THERE FOR FURTHER SAFETY PROBLEMS. SEVERAL PLT SUNGLASSES USE THE BLUE LIGHT BLOCKING TECHNOLOGY AND MANY PLTS MAY USE THESE GLASSES UNWITTINGLY.
