Narrative:
On takeoff from dca (runway 36) both captain and first officer's flight directors failed. In analyzing the problem, I was a little late turning. (We didn't know if we'd lost an alternating current bus, engine, flight director or what.) in the turn the tower (?) asked us if we were turning. I don't believe we penetrated the restr airspace (R56). We replied that we were turning. The flight directors worked ok after we bootstrapped them. (It might have been departure control that asked us but I believe it was tower.)
