Narrative:

I was coming into cvg for landing. I was told to follow an air carrier large transport for a visual approach to runway 18L. The large transport was off my right wing. I did not feel that separation was going to be a factor. I continued with other duties. It later became obvious that our courses were converging. I initiated a climbing left turn. Soon after our TCASII went in a TA, then a 'RA' mode, directing a climb. We notified ATC of this. They gave us vectors to increase our separation behind the large transport. The landing was uneventful.
