Narrative:
Inbound on civet arrival lax. Cleared down to FL180. Approach called traffic. Did not have visually. Altitude for traffic was supposed to be 17500 ft. TCASII alerted. TCASII had traffic at 400 ft below and climbing. TCASII gave a RA climb of 1500 FPM up. We complied. Clear of conflict 18600 MSL. Advised ATC and returned to FL180.

Narrative: INBOUND ON CIVET ARR LAX. CLRED DOWN TO FL180. APCH CALLED TFC. DID NOT HAVE VISUALLY. ALT FOR TFC WAS SUPPOSED TO BE 17500 FT. TCASII ALERTED. TCASII HAD TFC AT 400 FT BELOW AND CLBING. TCASII GAVE A RA CLB OF 1500 FPM UP. WE COMPLIED. CLR OF CONFLICT 18600 MSL. ADVISED ATC AND RETURNED TO FL180.
