Narrative:

During descent to our assigned altitude of 5000 ft from 7000 ft, we encountered a flock of birds at approximately 6000 ft which resulted in strikes to the aircraft. Preoccupied with damage assessment to our aircraft. We inadvertently descended below our assigned altitude. At about 4500 ft, I queried the first officer and he arrested the descent -- travis approach followed with a clearance to 4000 ft. The remainder of the flight was completed uneventfully.
