Narrative:
Summary of reporter's narrative: on a VFR flight from morristown, nj, to toms river (N44), nj, reporter was forced by low ceilings to descend to 500 ft MSL to remain VFR. However, the further south he flew, the more he had to turn west to avoid further WX. This caused him to become disoriented as to his location until he was able to set in some VOR and ADF frequency which gave an approximately location. He then contacted ATC and was too low for service until coming near the mcguire air force base TRACON. He was then given vectors to his destination approximately 13 mi southeast, where he landed without further incident. He further stated that he had been given a WX briefing by FSS and expected higher ceilings later in the morning. He concludes by saying that he was not able to return as previously planned because of the WX not improving.

Title: PRIVATE PLT OF SMA GA ACFT BECAME DISORIENTED DUE TO LOW CEILINGS ON A XCOUNTRY FLT AND REQUIRED A FLT ASSIST.
Narrative: SUMMARY OF RPTR'S NARRATIVE: ON A VFR FLT FROM MORRISTOWN, NJ, TO TOMS RIVER (N44), NJ, RPTR WAS FORCED BY LOW CEILINGS TO DSND TO 500 FT MSL TO REMAIN VFR. HOWEVER, THE FURTHER S HE FLEW, THE MORE HE HAD TO TURN W TO AVOID FURTHER WX. THIS CAUSED HIM TO BECOME DISORIENTED AS TO HIS LOCATION UNTIL HE WAS ABLE TO SET IN SOME VOR AND ADF FREQ WHICH GAVE AN APPROX LOCATION. HE THEN CONTACTED ATC AND WAS TOO LOW FOR SVC UNTIL COMING NEAR THE MCGUIRE AIR FORCE BASE TRACON. HE WAS THEN GIVEN VECTORS TO HIS DEST APPROX 13 MI SE, WHERE HE LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
