Narrative:
After liftoff and after gear retraction, nose gear unsafe (red) light remained on and gear did not retract. Advised departure that we would climb on course at a slower rate while we executed procedure prescribed in aircraft flight manual. Light remained on and with concurrence of company system control proceeded to destination (lga) at reduced airspeed with no other problems. This report is submitted because lga crash and fire responded even though we specifically stated that it was not necessary. Landed at lga on schedule with no further event.

Title: MLG HAS NOSE GEAR UNSAFE LIGHT REMAIN ON AFTER RETRACTION.
Narrative: AFTER LIFTOFF AND AFTER GEAR RETRACTION, NOSE GEAR UNSAFE (RED) LIGHT REMAINED ON AND GEAR DID NOT RETRACT. ADVISED DEP THAT WE WOULD CLB ON COURSE AT A SLOWER RATE WHILE WE EXECUTED PROC PRESCRIBED IN ACFT FLT MANUAL. LIGHT REMAINED ON AND WITH CONCURRENCE OF COMPANY SYS CTL PROCEEDED TO DEST (LGA) AT REDUCED AIRSPD WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS. THIS RPT IS SUBMITTED BECAUSE LGA CRASH AND FIRE RESPONDED EVEN THOUGH WE SPECIFICALLY STATED THAT IT WAS NOT NECESSARY. LANDED AT LGA ON SCHEDULE WITH NO FURTHER EVENT.
