Narrative:
Our aircraft was cleared to land runway 24 at apc. An small aircraft had been cleared to land behind us as #2. Small aircraft was not in sight and was assumed to have passed on the left. As final flaps were extended, an small aircraft was observed in a steep left turn to final just ahead of us. An evasive turn was made to the left, gear and flaps retracted and maximum power applied. We passed over the aircraft in very close proximity, then entered downwind for runway 18R and landed with no further problems. This right turn was not possible due to heavy traffic in right pattern.

Title: A TRAINING SMT ON FINAL APCH WAS CUT OUT BY AN SMA ON BASE LEG TURNING FINAL. NMAC RESULTED.
Narrative: OUR ACFT WAS CLRED TO LAND RWY 24 AT APC. AN SMA HAD BEEN CLRED TO LAND BEHIND US AS #2. SMA WAS NOT IN SIGHT AND WAS ASSUMED TO HAVE PASSED ON THE L. AS FINAL FLAPS WERE EXTENDED, AN SMA WAS OBSERVED IN A STEEP L TURN TO FINAL JUST AHEAD OF US. AN EVASIVE TURN WAS MADE TO THE L, GEAR AND FLAPS RETRACTED AND MAX PWR APPLIED. WE PASSED OVER THE ACFT IN VERY CLOSE PROX, THEN ENTERED DOWNWIND FOR RWY 18R AND LANDED WITH NO FURTHER PROBLEMS. THIS R TURN WAS NOT POSSIBLE DUE TO HVY TFC IN R PATTERN.
