Narrative:

I experienced my first tire blowout upon touchdown on runway 8 at burbank, ca. I was cleared by the tower controller to land and then to hold short of runway 15 which intersects runway 8. Upon touchdown the right tire blew and the aircraft proceeded to turn to the right towards the runway lights and sign. Being occupied in coping with this emergency, and not having a headset with a boom microphone, I was unable to advise the controller of this emergency and the need for more runway to handle this emergency of the blown tire. I was able to keep the aircraft straight on the runway but did end up turning off at the intersecting runway 15 and onto the taxiway without incident or damage to the aircraft which I was flying or any property at the burbank airport. The blown tire was then replaced on the ramp of the FBO. In the future, first, only accept a clearance that can be complied with under most circumstances, or advise the controller that you need an amendment to the clearance. Second, complex airspace needs the utmost in communication, therefore, it is extremely helpful to have and use a good headset. Even though I was dealing with an emergency, and part 91.3 could be cited as reason for this deviation, good communication is always the best policy.

Title: PLT OF A PVT SMA TWIN ENG ACFT LOST CTL OF THE ACFT DURING LNDG ROLLOUT DUE TO A BLOWN TIRE AND DID NOT STOP SHORT OF INTERSECTING RWY AS CLRED.

Narrative: I EXPERIENCED MY FIRST TIRE BLOWOUT UPON TOUCHDOWN ON RWY 8 AT BURBANK, CA. I WAS CLRED BY THE TWR CTLR TO LAND AND THEN TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 15 WHICH INTERSECTS RWY 8. UPON TOUCHDOWN THE R TIRE BLEW AND THE ACFT PROCEEDED TO TURN TO THE R TOWARDS THE RWY LIGHTS AND SIGN. BEING OCCUPIED IN COPING WITH THIS EMER, AND NOT HAVING A HEADSET WITH A BOOM MIKE, I WAS UNABLE TO ADVISE THE CTLR OF THIS EMER AND THE NEED FOR MORE RWY TO HANDLE THIS EMER OF THE BLOWN TIRE. I WAS ABLE TO KEEP THE ACFT STRAIGHT ON THE RWY BUT DID END UP TURNING OFF AT THE INTERSECTING RWY 15 AND ONTO THE TAXIWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT OR DAMAGE TO THE ACFT WHICH I WAS FLYING OR ANY PROPERTY AT THE BURBANK ARPT. THE BLOWN TIRE WAS THEN REPLACED ON THE RAMP OF THE FBO. IN THE FUTURE, FIRST, ONLY ACCEPT A CLRNC THAT CAN BE COMPLIED WITH UNDER MOST CIRCUMSTANCES, OR ADVISE THE CTLR THAT YOU NEED AN AMENDMENT TO THE CLRNC. SECOND, COMPLEX AIRSPACE NEEDS THE UTMOST IN COM, THEREFORE, IT IS EXTREMELY HELPFUL TO HAVE AND USE A GOOD HEADSET. EVEN THOUGH I WAS DEALING WITH AN EMER, AND PART 91.3 COULD BE CITED AS REASON FOR THIS DEV, GOOD COM IS ALWAYS THE BEST POLICY.
