Narrative:
Medium large transport was at 2000 ft on final approach and 'ARTS' readout jumped to 11700 ft. This is a continuous problem we are having at tampa. It gets very scary because you don't know what to believe or ignore and will probably at some point in time give someone a heart attack who might think that they lost track of an aircraft.

Title: MLG MODE C DATA TAG ALT JUMP. RADAR EQUIP PROBLEM ARTS IIIA MODE C DISPLAY.
Narrative: MLG WAS AT 2000 FT ON FINAL APCH AND 'ARTS' READOUT JUMPED TO 11700 FT. THIS IS A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM WE ARE HAVING AT TAMPA. IT GETS VERY SCARY BECAUSE YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO BELIEVE OR IGNORE AND WILL PROBABLY AT SOME POINT IN TIME GIVE SOMEONE A HEART ATTACK WHO MIGHT THINK THAT THEY LOST TRACK OF AN ACFT.
