Narrative:
Air carrier X was on 2-3 mi final to runway 32 at srq. Entire data tag jumped to a point 25 ene of srq (outside tpa approach airspace) for at least 1 full sweep, then jumped back on a short final at srq. The aircraft was about 300-400 ft when the 'tag' left the target. This was reported to management/af via tpa form 6190-2.

Title: ACR X DATA TAG JUMP ON FINAL APCH TO SRQ. ATC EQUIP PROBLEM RADAR ARTS IIIA.
Narrative: ACR X WAS ON 2-3 MI FINAL TO RWY 32 AT SRQ. ENTIRE DATA TAG JUMPED TO A POINT 25 ENE OF SRQ (OUTSIDE TPA APCH AIRSPACE) FOR AT LEAST 1 FULL SWEEP, THEN JUMPED BACK ON A SHORT FINAL AT SRQ. THE ACFT WAS ABOUT 300-400 FT WHEN THE 'TAG' LEFT THE TARGET. THIS WAS RPTED TO MGMNT/AF VIA TPA FORM 6190-2.
