Narrative:
After reinstalling propeller, after it had been svced, aircraft was ground run and shut down for inspection. Found ok. Then flew aircraft around traffic pattern, shut down and again inspected propeller installation. After inspecting ok, I flew the aircraft approximately 30 mins. I later returned the same day for approximately 1 hour of flight. While reviewing propeller installation procedures later in the evening, I noticed that the installation of propeller must be accomplished by an a&P mechanic. I am working under the supervision of an a&I, but have not received an a&P rating yet. Although the work performed was noted in aircraft logbook, the aircraft was not technically airworthy for flight, during the flts noted above. I notified my a&I, who inspected the propeller installation and signed off the work performed in the aircraft logbook, and returned the aircraft to an airworthy flight condition.

Title: COM RATED PLT, NON A&P RATED DOES OWN MAINT PROC ON HIS ACFT AND FLIES ACFT PRIOR TO CERTIFIED MECH CLRS ACFT DISCREPANCY FROM LOGBOOK.
Narrative: AFTER REINSTALLING PROP, AFTER IT HAD BEEN SVCED, ACFT WAS GND RUN AND SHUT DOWN FOR INSPECTION. FOUND OK. THEN FLEW ACFT AROUND TFC PATTERN, SHUT DOWN AND AGAIN INSPECTED PROP INSTALLATION. AFTER INSPECTING OK, I FLEW THE ACFT APPROX 30 MINS. I LATER RETURNED THE SAME DAY FOR APPROX 1 HR OF FLT. WHILE REVIEWING PROP INSTALLATION PROCS LATER IN THE EVENING, I NOTICED THAT THE INSTALLATION OF PROP MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED BY AN A&P MECH. I AM WORKING UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF AN A&I, BUT HAVE NOT RECEIVED AN A&P RATING YET. ALTHOUGH THE WORK PERFORMED WAS NOTED IN ACFT LOGBOOK, THE ACFT WAS NOT TECHNICALLY AIRWORTHY FOR FLT, DURING THE FLTS NOTED ABOVE. I NOTIFIED MY A&I, WHO INSPECTED THE PROP INSTALLATION AND SIGNED OFF THE WORK PERFORMED IN THE ACFT LOGBOOK, AND RETURNED THE ACFT TO AN AIRWORTHY FLT CONDITION.
