Narrative:
On ground at gate in roc an FAA ramp maintenance inspector wanted to look at our aircraft. I said ok. He found 1 halon fire extinguisher without a maintenance inspection sticker, and stated that the act was unsafe for flight. We had just flown it into roc on air carrier flight on feb/tue/93. Our maintenance at roc eventually replaced the bottle with one from another aircraft. I don't know if he was going to write the crew up for no inspection sticker on the fire bottle. No where in the pilot handbook or flight attendant manuals does it respond to the inspection sticker. All it states is the need for the pressure arrow in green and the safety pin installed.

Title: ACR MLG ACFT WAS GNDED DURING AN FAA 'RAMP' INSPECTION BECAUSE OF AN 'UNTAGGED' FIRE EXTINGUISHER.
Narrative: ON GND AT GATE IN ROC AN FAA RAMP MAINT INSPECTOR WANTED TO LOOK AT OUR ACFT. I SAID OK. HE FOUND 1 HALON FIRE EXTINGUISHER WITHOUT A MAINT INSPECTION STICKER, AND STATED THAT THE ACT WAS UNSAFE FOR FLT. WE HAD JUST FLOWN IT INTO ROC ON ACR FLT ON FEB/TUE/93. OUR MAINT AT ROC EVENTUALLY REPLACED THE BOTTLE WITH ONE FROM ANOTHER ACFT. I DON'T KNOW IF HE WAS GOING TO WRITE THE CREW UP FOR NO INSPECTION STICKER ON THE FIRE BOTTLE. NO WHERE IN THE PLT HANDBOOK OR FLT ATTENDANT MANUALS DOES IT RESPOND TO THE INSPECTION STICKER. ALL IT STATES IS THE NEED FOR THE PRESSURE ARROW IN GREEN AND THE SAFETY PIN INSTALLED.
