Narrative:
I was attempting to locate a certain residence, but did not, for safety reasons, fly slowly. Because of this speed, I had to circle a lot and made wide circuits. I found it difficult to find the residence because of the speed and was over the area longer than anticipated. I feel that watching for other aircraft, and high towers, etc, I may have inadvertently gone below 1000 ft. It is felt that I do not attempt to do this again in a built up area. I discovered that some people were frightened because of the high RPM and thought, due to my circling, that I was going to crash. Several persons reported me and the airport manager advertised in the local paper for witnesses. I should have aborted when experiencing the problem of finding residence. I never did see it after all that. Never will do that again in residential.

Title: AN SMA PVT PLT MADE SEVERAL ORBITS AROUND SOME HOMES AT OR NEAR 1000 FT AGL.
Narrative: I WAS ATTEMPTING TO LOCATE A CERTAIN RESIDENCE, BUT DID NOT, FOR SAFETY REASONS, FLY SLOWLY. BECAUSE OF THIS SPD, I HAD TO CIRCLE A LOT AND MADE WIDE CIRCUITS. I FOUND IT DIFFICULT TO FIND THE RESIDENCE BECAUSE OF THE SPD AND WAS OVER THE AREA LONGER THAN ANTICIPATED. I FEEL THAT WATCHING FOR OTHER ACFT, AND HIGH TWRS, ETC, I MAY HAVE INADVERTENTLY GONE BELOW 1000 FT. SEVERAL PERSONS RPTED ME AND THE ARPT MGR ADVERTISED IN THE LCL PAPER FOR WITNESSES. I SHOULD HAVE ABORTED WHEN EXPERIENCING THE PROB OF FINDING RESIDENCE. I NEVER DID SEE IT AFTER ALL THAT. NEVER WILL DO THAT AGAIN IN RESIDENTIAL.
