Narrative:

During taxi-in the #1 engine was shut down to conserve fuel. Upon doing so, all electrical power, including battery power, was lost. This left the aircraft without any radios or gyros, including the standby horizon. All attempts to reset circuit breakers, restart engines, obtain emergency power, etc, etc, were futile. The APU was on MEL. With no radio communication possible, the air carrier was escorted from between 2 active runways with the assistance of the newark port authority. The aircraft was turned over to maintenance and subsequent flts cancelled.
