Narrative:
At 3000 MSL on approach to bna on top of cloud layer, my aircraft's TCASII warning went off. RA alert to climb 1500 FPM. Climbed from 3000 ft to 4000 ft advised bna approach. They said that there was no observed traffic in our area. Returned to assigned altitude. Suspect false target on TCASII. RA target just popped up on screen with no altitude indication.
