Narrative:
After navigating LORAN direct to lawrence, ks, I was cleared for the NDB approach to runway 33 at lawrence. I received the morse code. I was going outbound and center said immediately climb to 3100 ft. He said I had the wrong approach. I checked my plates again and they were current. The problem was that the day before they had started using a new ILS and they moved the widebody transport to the OM. I did not hear of the change. (The night before, I got WX briefing. They said the GS was inoperative. I looked at my plates and told him that I wasn't showing an ILS at lawrence. He looked at his and said he wasn't either. He said he was going to call somewhere to find out). After climbing to 3100 ft the controller vectored me for a VOR approach. I asked him if I could have a phone number for when I got down. He gave it to me and I called him and figured out what went wrong. In the future I hope the subscribe to nos, because I don't get amendments now. Another problem was that the old NDB was not turned off.
