Narrative:
I was holding at end of runway for army helicopters dropping jumpers. 2 helicopters dropped jumpers and jumpers were on the ground and clear when I started takeoff roll. Then at liftoff a third helicopter came in view and dropped jumpers on left side of runway. I continued climb with right turn out remaining well clear of helicopters and jumpers. Helicopters did not announce time till jumpers away or jumpers away. Why do military aircraft have to practice at a civil airport? They have plenty of military airports MOA's, restr airspace, etc to use that civil aircraft can't.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: SMA HOLDING FOR JUMPERS. AT TKOF ROLL JUMPERS EXIT A THIRD MIL HELI.
Narrative: I WAS HOLDING AT END OF RWY FOR ARMY HELIS DROPPING JUMPERS. 2 HELIS DROPPED JUMPERS AND JUMPERS WERE ON THE GND AND CLR WHEN I STARTED TKOF ROLL. THEN AT LIFTOFF A THIRD HELI CAME IN VIEW AND DROPPED JUMPERS ON L SIDE OF RWY. I CONTINUED CLB WITH R TURN OUT REMAINING WELL CLR OF HELIS AND JUMPERS. HELIS DID NOT ANNOUNCE TIME TILL JUMPERS AWAY OR JUMPERS AWAY. WHY DO MIL ACFT HAVE TO PRACTICE AT A CIVIL ARPT? THEY HAVE PLENTY OF MIL ARPTS MOA'S, RESTR AIRSPACE, ETC TO USE THAT CIVIL ACFT CAN'T.
