Narrative:
Departed jax flying to pgv on IFR flight plan in an light transport aircraft. Approaching pgv, cancelled IFR flight plan with ZDC, about 12 mi out. Had been monitoring pgv unicom for about 20 mi. Approached airport to enter an overhead left downwind for runway 7 per unicom advisory. Every call was made from the first for advisory for airport information to overhead to enter left downwind. When in the left turn, PNF called turning downwind runway 7. Response was commuter (cannot remember the number or airline) called left downwind and requested our position. Rolling out of the turn we spotted him just ahead, a little to the right. That was his first call and undoubtedly he had not been listening to unicom. 20 more KTS the turn would have been a little wider and we would have been scattered over the ground. Please listen up.
