Narrative:
On final for runway 32 tower advised us of traffic behind us, closing quick. We were requested to expedite exiting the runway. Normally we would be planning to exit runway 32 at taxiway west. Since we were requested to expedite, we asked tower if we 'could clear onto runway 28C.' tower replied that 'it looks like that will work, let me check with ground control.' shortly after, tower cleared us to land on runway 28C and to keep the circle tight. We then circled to land on runway 28C. Contributing factors, miscom with tower. We wanted to land on runway 32 then taxi onto runway 28C to expedite. Tower's perception was that we wanted to land on runway 28C.

Narrative: ON FINAL FOR RWY 32 TWR ADVISED US OF TFC BEHIND US, CLOSING QUICK. WE WERE REQUESTED TO EXPEDITE EXITING THE RWY. NORMALLY WE WOULD BE PLANNING TO EXIT RWY 32 AT TXWY W. SINCE WE WERE REQUESTED TO EXPEDITE, WE ASKED TWR IF WE 'COULD CLR ONTO RWY 28C.' TWR REPLIED THAT 'IT LOOKS LIKE THAT WILL WORK, LET ME CHK WITH GND CTL.' SHORTLY AFTER, TWR CLRED US TO LAND ON RWY 28C AND TO KEEP THE CIRCLE TIGHT. WE THEN CIRCLED TO LAND ON RWY 28C. CONTRIBUTING FACTORS, MISCOM WITH TWR. WE WANTED TO LAND ON RWY 32 THEN TAXI ONTO RWY 28C TO EXPEDITE. TWR'S PERCEPTION WAS THAT WE WANTED TO LAND ON RWY 28C.
