Narrative:
Gear down and red warning for nose gear. We abandoned approach to work on problem. Gear retracted normally and we got a 'nosewheel steering' status message. Performed all procedures, briefed passenger for rough landing, declared emergency. Landed and shut down on runway. Had to be towed to gate. We had had numerous maintenance problems all day with ship. Part of equipment cooling was inoperative and I suspect possibility of some overheating of components. Maintenance does not agree with my assessment. They say just a coincidence. We had the following messages or problems on only 2 segments: 2 autoplt disconnects, autoplt would not capture localizer, both mcdu locked up on ground in las, nose gear door open with gear down, no nosewheel steering on landing in msp.

Title: MLG ACR ACFT'S NOSEWHEEL EXTENSION MALFUNCTIONED CAUSING THE CAPT TO DECLARE AN EMER LNDG RESULTING IN THE ACFT BEING TOWED TO PARKING AFTER LNDG.
Narrative: GEAR DOWN AND RED WARNING FOR NOSE GEAR. WE ABANDONED APCH TO WORK ON PROB. GEAR RETRACTED NORMALLY AND WE GOT A 'NOSEWHEEL STEERING' STATUS MESSAGE. PERFORMED ALL PROCS, BRIEFED PAX FOR ROUGH LNDG, DECLARED EMER. LANDED AND SHUT DOWN ON RWY. HAD TO BE TOWED TO GATE. WE HAD HAD NUMEROUS MAINT PROBS ALL DAY WITH SHIP. PART OF EQUIP COOLING WAS INOP AND I SUSPECT POSSIBILITY OF SOME OVERHEATING OF COMPONENTS. MAINT DOES NOT AGREE WITH MY ASSESSMENT. THEY SAY JUST A COINCIDENCE. WE HAD THE FOLLOWING MESSAGES OR PROBS ON ONLY 2 SEGMENTS: 2 AUTOPLT DISCONNECTS, AUTOPLT WOULD NOT CAPTURE LOC, BOTH MCDU LOCKED UP ON GND IN LAS, NOSE GEAR DOOR OPEN WITH GEAR DOWN, NO NOSEWHEEL STEERING ON LNDG IN MSP.
