Narrative:
During climb out at approximately FL220 #4 handle fire warning light illuminated and fire warning bell came on. Performed engine fire/severe damage checklist. After pulling #4 fire handle full forward, #4 fire light still illuminated. Discharged first bottle, fire light still illuminated, discharged second bottle, fire light still on. Declared emergency. Landed uneventfully stopped on runway 1 at sdf. #4 fire handle light went out on short final. Crash fire rescue verified no fire, taxied clear of runway 1. Company maintenance verified no fire at remote taxi area. Returned aircraft to ramp. Exercised emergency authority in return to sdf, notified ATC and dispatch. No damage or bodily harm incurred. Landed approximately 276300 pounds, overweight landing written up in logbook.
