Narrative:
We executed a climb in response to a TCASII RA commanding 'climb, climb now.' we climbed from 12000 ft our assigned altitude to 12500 ft before returning to 12000 ft after receiving 'clear of conflict' from TCASII. ATC was advised of our climb. The conflicting aircraft was climbing toward us from our 10:30 O'clock position. We were on a 180 degree heading being vectored for a visual approach to runway 3L at dtw. Conflicting aircraft was never sighted.
