Narrative:
At approximately PM10Z, may/tue/93, FL350, near csn VOR, 6 plus hours into a scheduled 8 hour flight, all the lights on the flight engineer fuel panel went out (all flow bars, pump lights, etc). After approximately 15 mins trouble-shooting, lights still out. Tank #1 indicated 16700 pounds. #3 tank indicated 15800 pounds. #2 left and right tanks indicated a total of 13500 pounds. After approximately 15 mins level flight, #1 and #3 indicated no fuel usage. Only #2 showed any decrease. With only 13500 pounds in the only tanks indicating fuel usage and destination airport (atl) over 1 hour away diversion into iad was initiated. Iad was landing south. We requested a straight-in to the north for the most expeditious landing. Emergency was declared. Landing to north approved. Landing in iad was uneventful. Maintenance was performed. Fuel panel operation was verified as corrected. Aircraft refueled and flight proceeded to atl. Flight to atl normal.
