Narrative:
Captain's leg. Taxied out for takeoff, all system normal. First takeoff attempt. At takeoff power (50 KTS) had a 'RAT' hydraulic pump fault indication. Aborted. Fault went away, taxied to a holding area. Conferred with maintenance control and agreed no problem to takeoff again. Next takeoff attempt normal. Tried raising gear but handle was 'locked' in down position. Shortly after got a 'landing gear shock absorber fault.' after conferring with maintenance control and dispatch, returned to dtw, declared emergency, made over weight landing. While holding and working on problem, assigned 4000 ft by ATC due to turbulence, loss of flight director, autoplt, automatic throttles, altitude varied plus or minus 400 ft. Found out aircraft had a history of same problems twice in last 30 days.

Title: ACFT EQUIP PROB MALFUNCTION CREATES MULTIPLE SIT FOR FLC. TKOF ABORTED. TKOF DELAYED. ALTDEV ALT EXCURSION. EMER DECLARED. RETURN LAND.
Narrative: CAPT'S LEG. TAXIED OUT FOR TKOF, ALL SYS NORMAL. FIRST TKOF ATTEMPT. AT TKOF PWR (50 KTS) HAD A 'RAT' HYD PUMP FAULT INDICATION. ABORTED. FAULT WENT AWAY, TAXIED TO A HOLDING AREA. CONFERRED WITH MAINT CTL AND AGREED NO PROB TO TKOF AGAIN. NEXT TKOF ATTEMPT NORMAL. TRIED RAISING GEAR BUT HANDLE WAS 'LOCKED' IN DOWN POS. SHORTLY AFTER GOT A 'LNDG GEAR SHOCK ABSORBER FAULT.' AFTER CONFERRING WITH MAINT CTL AND DISPATCH, RETURNED TO DTW, DECLARED EMER, MADE OVER WT LNDG. WHILE HOLDING AND WORKING ON PROB, ASSIGNED 4000 FT BY ATC DUE TO TURB, LOSS OF FLT DIRECTOR, AUTOPLT, AUTO THROTTLES, ALT VARIED PLUS OR MINUS 400 FT. FOUND OUT ACFT HAD A HISTORY OF SAME PROBS TWICE IN LAST 30 DAYS.
