Narrative:
Widebody transport X northbound from imb to PDT, air carrier Y wbound from ZLC to pdx international -- both at FL350. Training was in progress. I was the instructor. I was distracted by previous sits, contemplating how to brief student. I was alerted to situation by the flashing of the conflict alert. Widebody transport X was given a 40 degree left turn (it took 2 calls). Air carrier Y was given a 30 degree right turn, climbed widebody transport X to FL370 thinking I would go FL370 and FL330. Widebody transport X said he would rather take a heading. Turned widebody transport X 90 degrees left, turned air carrier Y 50 degrees right, descended air carrier Y to FL330 (it took 2 calls). Told air carrier Y to descend and maintain FL330 immediately. He said he said he was leaving FL345.
