Narrative:

Initially cleared for quiet bridge to runway 28R. Lots of speed and level off restrictions which are, unfortunately, normal. Always flying the large transport faster and higher than desired and as usual, the approach was not stabilized! Then we suddenly were vectored heading 230 degrees to expect visual to runway 28L (change). We did not have airport in sight, sun directly in windshield. Also we must now change all previously inputted planned data -- FMC, frequency changes, etc. Lots of head down time. Meanwhile the TCASII shouted 'traffic, traffic.' yes, a widebody transport was 600 ft to our right. We landed together! Passenger complained about close proximity. It was an unsafe approach! (Close to a midair with gust or slight move!)

Title: LAST MIN CHANGES IN QUIET BRIDGE APCH RESULT IN TCASII TA AND WINGTIP TO WINGTIP PARALLEL VISUAL APCHS.

Narrative: INITIALLY CLRED FOR QUIET BRIDGE TO RWY 28R. LOTS OF SPD AND LEVEL OFF RESTRICTIONS WHICH ARE, UNFORTUNATELY, NORMAL. ALWAYS FLYING THE LGT FASTER AND HIGHER THAN DESIRED AND AS USUAL, THE APCH WAS NOT STABILIZED! THEN WE SUDDENLY WERE VECTORED HDG 230 DEGS TO EXPECT VISUAL TO RWY 28L (CHANGE). WE DID NOT HAVE ARPT IN SIGHT, SUN DIRECTLY IN WINDSHIELD. ALSO WE MUST NOW CHANGE ALL PREVIOUSLY INPUTTED PLANNED DATA -- FMC, FREQ CHANGES, ETC. LOTS OF HEAD DOWN TIME. MEANWHILE THE TCASII SHOUTED 'TFC, TFC.' YES, A WDB WAS 600 FT TO OUR R. WE LANDED TOGETHER! PAX COMPLAINED ABOUT CLOSE PROX. IT WAS AN UNSAFE APCH! (CLOSE TO A MIDAIR WITH GUST OR SLIGHT MOVE!)
