Narrative:

Wrong clearance received through pre departure clearance. When directed to contact departure, was unable to contact. Switch back to tower received a good frequency and contacted departure. After contacting departure climbing through 3000 ft for 5000 ft, we were cleared to 5000 ft. Later review of pre departure clearance showed ACARS had wrong flight number inputted and clearance received was for the previous flight. During a rushed preflight, we pick only the highlights -- departure frequency and altitude and did not read the whole pre departure clearance, which would have alerted us we received the wrong clearance. The procedure used at ord of give the squawk codes would have caught the error.
