Narrative:
Landing runway 19, called unicom stevens field, no response. Landed with no visible or audible problems. After 2 hour stay, boarded aircraft to depart. FBO advised us (pilot and 2 passenger) of severe propeller damage. Inspection of propeller confirmed report. Obtained alternate transportation home. Later same day, FBO advised pilot landed on unusable portion of runway 19 and propeller struck runway lights. Pilot disputes claim by airport of runway markings indicating unusable portion of runway 19. Pilot's inspection of runway 19 on downwind did not adequately image hash marks. Landing procedure witnessed entirely by licensed pilot, who observed nothing unusual. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter states neither he nor his pilot passenger could detect any markings on the area of the displaced threshold. Airport personnel indicate there are chevrons on the area. Reporter recommends these markings should be painted with something to make them more visible from the air. Reporter states he certainly understands displaced thresholds and knows their meaning.

Title: SMA LANDS ON DISPLACED THRESHOLD AND DAMAGES PROP ON RWY LIGHTS.
Narrative: LNDG RWY 19, CALLED UNICOM STEVENS FIELD, NO RESPONSE. LANDED WITH NO VISIBLE OR AUDIBLE PROBS. AFTER 2 HR STAY, BOARDED ACFT TO DEPART. FBO ADVISED US (PLT AND 2 PAX) OF SEVERE PROP DAMAGE. INSPECTION OF PROP CONFIRMED RPT. OBTAINED ALTERNATE TRANSPORTATION HOME. LATER SAME DAY, FBO ADVISED PLT LANDED ON UNUSABLE PORTION OF RWY 19 AND PROP STRUCK RWY LIGHTS. PLT DISPUTES CLAIM BY ARPT OF RWY MARKINGS INDICATING UNUSABLE PORTION OF RWY 19. PLT'S INSPECTION OF RWY 19 ON DOWNWIND DID NOT ADEQUATELY IMAGE HASH MARKS. LNDG PROC WITNESSED ENTIRELY BY LICENSED PLT, WHO OBSERVED NOTHING UNUSUAL. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR STATES NEITHER HE NOR HIS PLT PAX COULD DETECT ANY MARKINGS ON THE AREA OF THE DISPLACED THRESHOLD. ARPT PERSONNEL INDICATE THERE ARE CHEVRONS ON THE AREA. RPTR RECOMMENDS THESE MARKINGS SHOULD BE PAINTED WITH SOMETHING TO MAKE THEM MORE VISIBLE FROM THE AIR. RPTR STATES HE CERTAINLY UNDERSTANDS DISPLACED THRESHOLDS AND KNOWS THEIR MEANING.
