Narrative:
My concern on the jun/wed/93 was centered on crew duty and flight time limits for a 2 man crew on a domestic pairing. I started my day reporting to operations at XA00 local. I blocked in at the end of my day at XK28 am on the jun/thu/93 (a 16 hour 28 min day). Additionally, I flew 10 hours 49 mins in that same duty period. I called my company dispatcher and they said there was no such limit (16 hour day). Further, they said I could fly any amount of hours because I was originally scheduled for only 7 hour 56 mins. To me the FARS are so unclr as to render them meaningless. It also opens a door to my company to push me to the point of shutting down the flight on my own for safety. My company also believes that a phone call from crew scheduling at 0400 am is not violating crew rest. I wish I had an FAA 'rule-maker' on my right hand throughout this day to see a real-life workday gone sour because of FARS that are not clear. My company will push me to the limit, but I have to quote FARS that are worthless to me.

Title: AN ACR MLG CAPT COMPLAINS ABOUT HIS COMPANY WORKING HIM PAST 8 HRS ON AN UNUSUAL DAY.
Narrative: MY CONCERN ON THE JUN/WED/93 WAS CTRED ON CREW DUTY AND FLT TIME LIMITS FOR A 2 MAN CREW ON A DOMESTIC PAIRING. I STARTED MY DAY RPTING TO OPS AT XA00 LCL. I BLOCKED IN AT THE END OF MY DAY AT XK28 AM ON THE JUN/THU/93 (A 16 HR 28 MIN DAY). ADDITIONALLY, I FLEW 10 HRS 49 MINS IN THAT SAME DUTY PERIOD. I CALLED MY COMPANY DISPATCHER AND THEY SAID THERE WAS NO SUCH LIMIT (16 HR DAY). FURTHER, THEY SAID I COULD FLY ANY AMOUNT OF HRS BECAUSE I WAS ORIGINALLY SCHEDULED FOR ONLY 7 HR 56 MINS. TO ME THE FARS ARE SO UNCLR AS TO RENDER THEM MEANINGLESS. IT ALSO OPENS A DOOR TO MY COMPANY TO PUSH ME TO THE POINT OF SHUTTING DOWN THE FLT ON MY OWN FOR SAFETY. MY COMPANY ALSO BELIEVES THAT A PHONE CALL FROM CREW SCHEDULING AT 0400 AM IS NOT VIOLATING CREW REST. I WISH I HAD AN FAA 'RULE-MAKER' ON MY R HAND THROUGHOUT THIS DAY TO SEE A REAL-LIFE WORKDAY GONE SOUR BECAUSE OF FARS THAT ARE NOT CLR. MY COMPANY WILL PUSH ME TO THE LIMIT, BUT I HAVE TO QUOTE FARS THAT ARE WORTHLESS TO ME.
