Narrative:

On last flight of day the first officer departed runway 5L ind. We were instructed to turn left, I think, something like 360 degrees. I was involved with the checklist and trying to get a troublesome flow working and the aircraft pressurized. I believe the transponder was not turned on, so I was distracted with that also. Anyway, I failed to notice that we were not climbing at as fast a rate as we should. I did notice at about the same time as ATC who reminded us that eagle creek airport was ahead with traffic at or near our altitude. I instructed the first officer to climb at maximum and we were able to climb at something like 2500 FPM and get away from local traffic. ATC questioned us as to what our normal rate of climb should be. Sheepishly I told him and reminded myself to monitor the situation better. Thanks to the controllers we avoided a problem. For our part, we were a bit tired and we did not perform as we should. Slow rate of climbs are not done by me or my crew on purpose.

Title: SLOW RATE OF CLB AFTER TKOF ALMOST CAUSES LTT TO ENTER TFC PATTERN AT UNCTLED ARPT.

Narrative: ON LAST FLT OF DAY THE FO DEPARTED RWY 5L IND. WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO TURN L, I THINK, SOMETHING LIKE 360 DEGS. I WAS INVOLVED WITH THE CHKLIST AND TRYING TO GET A TROUBLESOME FLOW WORKING AND THE ACFT PRESSURIZED. I BELIEVE THE XPONDER WAS NOT TURNED ON, SO I WAS DISTRACTED WITH THAT ALSO. ANYWAY, I FAILED TO NOTICE THAT WE WERE NOT CLBING AT AS FAST A RATE AS WE SHOULD. I DID NOTICE AT ABOUT THE SAME TIME AS ATC WHO REMINDED US THAT EAGLE CREEK ARPT WAS AHEAD WITH TFC AT OR NEAR OUR ALT. I INSTRUCTED THE FO TO CLB AT MAX AND WE WERE ABLE TO CLB AT SOMETHING LIKE 2500 FPM AND GET AWAY FROM LCL TFC. ATC QUESTIONED US AS TO WHAT OUR NORMAL RATE OF CLB SHOULD BE. SHEEPISHLY I TOLD HIM AND REMINDED MYSELF TO MONITOR THE SIT BETTER. THANKS TO THE CTLRS WE AVOIDED A PROB. FOR OUR PART, WE WERE A BIT TIRED AND WE DID NOT PERFORM AS WE SHOULD. SLOW RATE OF CLBS ARE NOT DONE BY ME OR MY CREW ON PURPOSE.
