Narrative:
In detroit 20 mins prior to departure, lead agent asked me to come to his office to discuss a problem with a lgw bound passenger. The agent and assistant station manager advised me that 3 passenger, a female and a man and his wife, said they had smelled an odor of alcohol while leaving the aircraft. They thought the smell was coming from one of the pilot crew members. After discussing the situation we decided to ask the 3 passenger to come to the station manager office and meet and talk to the 3 pilot crew members. An agent was dispatched to the gate area but all 3 passenger did not want to be idented and felt they may have smelled some liquid that had been spilled in the first class galley. We decided that 2 agents would check each pilot crew member and then reassure the passenger that no problem existed with the crew. This was done. Flight control was advised. Atlanta chief pilot was advised the 3 passenger reboarded and our flight departed 15 mins late for lgw. I have no solution to this problem but to make every effort to assure our passenger that every crew member is rested and is prepared to give them a safe and smooth flight.
