Narrative:
Departed runway 32L at ord, during clean aircraft thrust rating indicator (tri) did not take the climb power command (we push 'cl' button on tri). This left the throttles in clamp, so during leveloff we noticed airspeed climbing. Turned off automatic throttles and reduced power. Speed did not exceed 280 KTS (and only momentarily) maintained 250 KTS until out of 10000 ft during climb. Flight uneventful. In future, both pilots should confirm thrust rating indicator in 'climb mode.'
