Narrative:
While flying VFR from ptb at 4500 ft to int. On approaching int called ATIS for airport advisory and found the WX conditions had changed to ILS landing only at int. Without warning, haze thickened and closed in behind us as well as in front. We were near gso. My best judgement was for them to vector us to the nearest IFR field which was gso. Upon landing gso called the tower at their request. Tower asked if I was in the clouds. I responded yes, but after consideration, I felt that we were in thick haze and ground fog. After 2 hours at gso tower, cleared us for VFR flight back to ptb.
