Narrative:
Cpr X was inbound to grr airport. The aircraft requested vectors to runway 26L ILS and was vectored to join the ILS and shipped to the grr advisory approximately 9 mi east of the grr airport. Aircraft subsequently said we've had an accident, we're both ok, but are requesting equipment on the field. The airport was at minimums for that approach and shortly after the incident the WX was reported as W0XF. The aircraft had apparently landed approximately 150 ft south of the runway and was rolling up on the runway when his front nose gear collapsed. The pilots were fine but were shaken up. Factors I believe that led to the incident were: deteriorating WX, the fact that 2 aircraft made approachs and landed safely mins before cpr X, might have given cpr X a false sense of security to land when conditions were at minimums.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CPR X ON INST APCH LANDED SHORT OF RWY AND COLLAPSED NOSE GEAR.
Narrative: CPR X WAS INBOUND TO GRR ARPT. THE ACFT REQUESTED VECTORS TO RWY 26L ILS AND WAS VECTORED TO JOIN THE ILS AND SHIPPED TO THE GRR ADVISORY APPROX 9 MI E OF THE GRR ARPT. ACFT SUBSEQUENTLY SAID WE'VE HAD AN ACCIDENT, WE'RE BOTH OK, BUT ARE REQUESTING EQUIP ON THE FIELD. THE ARPT WAS AT MINIMUMS FOR THAT APCH AND SHORTLY AFTER THE INCIDENT THE WX WAS RPTED AS W0XF. THE ACFT HAD APPARENTLY LANDED APPROX 150 FT S OF THE RWY AND WAS ROLLING UP ON THE RWY WHEN HIS FRONT NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED. THE PLTS WERE FINE BUT WERE SHAKEN UP. FACTORS I BELIEVE THAT LED TO THE INCIDENT WERE: DETERIORATING WX, THE FACT THAT 2 ACFT MADE APCHS AND LANDED SAFELY MINS BEFORE CPR X, MIGHT HAVE GIVEN CPR X A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY TO LAND WHEN CONDITIONS WERE AT MINIMUMS.
