Narrative:
MVA 2000 ft. WX was VFR, but 'light' rain showers reduced visibility. The pilot of small aircraft X called up on approach control frequency approximately 8 mi sse of dal en route to ads airport (8 mi north of dal). After establishing radar contact, I cleared small aircraft X into the TCA. The pilot advised he required radar vectors and flight assistance to find addison airport. The aircraft was instructed to maintain 2000 ft. I issued repeated vectors to the aircraft to have him cross over dallas love field. I requested a landing sequence to addison from dfw approach control and vectored the aircraft to the final approach course at addison (runway 33). At a point approximately 2.5 - 3 mi southeast (on final) I transferred control to addison tower. The pilot repeatedly (3 or 4 times) requested descent below 2000 ft when north of our airport. I had him maintain 2000 ft altitude to enable him to pick up the airport (ads). Although he earlier reported flight visibility of '8 mi' he did not pick up ads airport or traffic to follow (12 O'clock and only 2 mi).

Title: SMA X WX ENCOUNTER RADAR VECTORED TO ARPT.
Narrative: MVA 2000 FT. WX WAS VFR, BUT 'LIGHT' RAIN SHOWERS REDUCED VISIBILITY. THE PLT OF SMA X CALLED UP ON APCH CTL FREQ APPROX 8 MI SSE OF DAL ENRTE TO ADS ARPT (8 MI N OF DAL). AFTER ESTABLISHING RADAR CONTACT, I CLRED SMA X INTO THE TCA. THE PLT ADVISED HE REQUIRED RADAR VECTORS AND FLT ASSISTANCE TO FIND ADDISON ARPT. THE ACFT WAS INSTRUCTED TO MAINTAIN 2000 FT. I ISSUED REPEATED VECTORS TO THE ACFT TO HAVE HIM CROSS OVER DALLAS LOVE FIELD. I REQUESTED A LNDG SEQUENCE TO ADDISON FROM DFW APCH CTL AND VECTORED THE ACFT TO THE FINAL APCH COURSE AT ADDISON (RWY 33). AT A POINT APPROX 2.5 - 3 MI SE (ON FINAL) I TRANSFERRED CTL TO ADDISON TWR. THE PLT REPEATEDLY (3 OR 4 TIMES) REQUESTED DSCNT BELOW 2000 FT WHEN N OF OUR ARPT. I HAD HIM MAINTAIN 2000 FT ALT TO ENABLE HIM TO PICK UP THE ARPT (ADS). ALTHOUGH HE EARLIER RPTED FLT VISIBILITY OF '8 MI' HE DID NOT PICK UP ADS ARPT OR TFC TO FOLLOW (12 O'CLOCK AND ONLY 2 MI).
